Date Difference
Find the exact number of days, weeks, months, years, and working days between any two dates. Useful for project planning, contract durations, deadlines, and time tracking.
How It Is Calculated
Days = |end − start| in milliseconds ÷ 86,400,000
Weeks = days ÷ 7
Months = floor(days ÷ 30.44) (approximate)
Years = floor(months ÷ 12)
Workdays = count of Mon–Fri between the two dates
(public holidays not excluded — vary by country)
Workdays is the most useful figure for project timelines and contracts. Calendar days are needed for legal deadlines that count every day. The order of start and end dates doesn't matter — the calculator always returns the absolute difference.
How to use
How it works
Pick a start and end date — the order doesn't matter, the calculator always uses the absolute difference. Results are shown in multiple units simultaneously.
Workdays
Workdays excludes Saturdays and Sundays. Public holidays are not excluded (they vary by country).
Tips
- •Use this to calculate how many days until a deadline or event.
- •For project timelines, the workdays figure is more useful than calendar days.
- •Want to know your exact age? Use the Age Calculator instead.
